Epic Avengers fic rec dump is Epic

A few months ago I mentioned how absolutely EVIL the AO3 History feature is, and went on a rather epic fic binge as I dug through the more then 30 pages worth of links that I had in mine. These stories are the result of that epic fic binge.**

and if there's life we'll see it by irnan. Steve is instantly taken with this idea of having the picture of the person calling you flash on your screen when they ring your cell. This one made my not-so-inner-photography nut go ♥

snakes on a plane - by Siria. Natasha didn't break eye contact with Tony as she reached into one of the pockets of her utility belt, pulled out a small tube, and then deliberately and methodically coated her hands with sanitiser.

It's No Way to Make a Living by teand. A bunch of entertaining drabbles (full series is a whopping 500 words) that kind of give "A Day In The Life of your average Avenger" feeling.

Coulson's Eleven by copperbadge. After Vanko destroyed the Stark Expo, SHIELD instituted a Superhuman Detention program, designed to capture and hold dangerous people -- dangerous people like Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and others who made themselves noticeable. The superhumans SHIELD has imprisoned -- and some SHIELD agents themselves -- have other ideas about what constitutes 'dangerous'....

All things being equal, I'd rather be in Phildelphia by meinterrpted. Darcy didn't sign on with SHIELD to be a hero. Too bad a group of bank robbers didn't give her a choice. Once again, Darcy is being awesome. Also, it introduces an awesome and adorable OC that I would love to see more of, which we totally get in the sequel, Life has its little bonuses.

A Girl and Her Taser by snack_size. Darcy Lewis had a political science degree - summa cum laude, thank you very much - and one internship with an astrophysicist on her resume and apparently this was qualification enough to work as personal assistant for a rag tag group of super heroes who just wanted to save the world.
She was not going to argue. I can't actually remember what happens in this series, but you can bet that there is lots of Darcy being Awesome.

ETA 4/4/15 - upon rereading, there is indeed Darcy being awesome.  There is also her conspiring with Clint and Natasha to get Bruce and Tony to hook up, and she inflicts the movie Up on all of them in the process. In her defense, she does feel rather bad about it after the fact.

And peace attend thee - by spockside. At SHIELD HQ, not a creature is stirring, not even an Avenger. Well, maybe Tony. Short and sweet (758 words of fluff), the Avengers at peace. Or as peaceful as they ever get.

breadcrumbs by irnan. Betty is aware that this is not going to work unless she can come up with a better plan than calling up the Pentagon and asking if they can direct her to a scientist who occasionally turns into a giant green monster, a specific one, she didn't just wake up this morning with a craving, she's actually his girlfriend, so would they mind very kindly putting her through... ?

Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Swing_set13. "So what's your power? Other than being ripped," asks Darcy looking over the new guy. "But that's already a general requirement around here." Technically more Thor-fic than Avengers-fic, but Thor IS an Avenger, so it totally counts.

the helicarrier by gdgdbaby. The glass case that holds Captain America's uniform and shield is filled to the brim with what looks like a bright orange gelatin.

Walking Wounded by Nefhiriel.

In the aftermath of the battle against the Chitauri, Steve's doing just fine. Until he's not.

Fortunately, Thor is a perfect mother-hen, Tony makes decent back-up, JARVIS is a genius, and Soap Operas are life-changing.

(Or, Post-Shawarma Feels.)

Some Nights by Jadzia_bear. When two of Darcy's closest friends fall in love she does everything she can to get them together. By the time she realises she has feelings of her own, things have already gone too far.

Having A Bit Of A Day, Here by kellifer_fic. Where Darcy gets a super power, kind of, sorta. Geez, she's just having a bit of a weird week, alright?

Tex-Mex, Lies and Facebook by oxoniensis.

Darcy's not exactly sure how she came to get an invite, but Jane said party so Darcy was all over it. And then Jane texted her the address, and Darcy nearly peed herself. She's at a party at Avengers Mansion, which is like, the coolest, most exclusive place in New York. Probably in the entire world. Tony Stark said hi to her when she arrived, and what is her life that she knows Tony fucking Stark, and he knows her name?!

"This is totally going on Facebook!"

Frankie Says Relax by kellifer_fic.
"Not really my style it's true," he admits. "I kinda wore out my own stuff and I've been reduced to being dressed by Stark."

"His cruelty knows no bounds," Darcy says.
In which Darcy saves Steve from Tony's bastardry-by-fashion. And then she kind of accidentally becomes the Avenger's PA. And she is awesome at it. And then there is paintball.

Buddy System by kellifer_fic. I can't actually remember what happens in this one, but odds are? Darcy is being awesome. (are we sensing a trend here? :) ) And Peter Parker is mentioned in the character list, so bonus awesome.

Therapeutic Guidelines by kellifer_fic. "Are you suggesting I get a bunch of bunk beds in here and squeeze us all into one room?" Tony scoffs and the woman just looks at him. "No, wait-" In which the team is forced to bond through uncomfortably close quarters and action figures.

Comrades by Nefhiriel. Five times Thor defended his friends from people who should've been on their side, and one time his friends defended him.

Stockholm Syndrome and other drugs byAlchemyAlice. In which Coulson is his frighteningly competent self, but this time, the Avengers notice.

Scavenger Hunting Is Extremely Likely Disastrous (S.H.I.E.L.D) - amathela (Zhailei) - The Avengers (2012) by amathela (Zhailei). Nobody ever owns up to starting the scavenger hunt, but given that the first item is "procure fully weaponised robot armour," it's a safe bet that Tony's the one to blame. There are a few writing and grammar things that kind of bug me on this one, but I totally love it anyway.

**And it was truly Epic as it was SUCH a huge, massive binge it took me at least a few weeks to make it through it all (and I still have another eight stories to peek at before I can truly say I am finished going through those archives), and it succeeded where all fan fic binges had failed before - I overdosed so spectacularly on fic during those few weeks that I have barely touched the stuff ever since. Seriously, not kidding. These have been sitting in my fic recs folder since the second week of December, and I'm not sure I've even added anything to that folder since not long after Christmas. And this post itself? Has taken me a month and a half to complete. And here I never thought I'd see the day...
