I maintain it's the lack of humidity that allows you to accomplish things out there. Heck, I spent two whole summers running up and down part of a mountain, doing 3 mile hikes 3 times a week (sometimes twice in one day), and generally being outside the whole time.
Low humidity and no mosquitoes makes a world of difference. Still hot, yes, but it's not trying to suffocate you. :-)
