schedule. moving. furniture.

So. Monday, huh? I have the oddest schedule at work this week. I'm taking a couple of trainings and leading a one-on-one training and a tour of some sort (ah, there's the memo - high school students doing local history research). Combined with the online reference shift I did this morning and my day off on Wednesday, all of the above means that I ( Read more... )

I can't decide whether our impending moves (and plans for furniture acquisition) mean that we're going to be talking about furniture with each other all the damn time or assiduously avoiding the topic.

B. is totally jealous of the daybed I just ordered, by the way. We worked through her Psychological Issues about it at lunch today, with J. facilitating. Also, even though we spent all that time on the phone Saturday I don't think I told you about the Pepsi-spitting incident! Must rectify this oversight!

Huh. I think *I* might be jealous of the daybed you just ordered. I hadn't even been considering a daybed, but that's a mighty fine looking example of the species. I will want someplace to sleep my guests, but I'm not sure I'm willing to commit to a sleeper sofa. B. from work was encouraging me to think outside the traditional living room furniture arrangement, perhaps going with a couple of oversized chairs and skipping a couch. I do love a good couch for flopping on, but I am considering her idea. I wonder if that layount might leave enough room to add a daybed outside of the main conversation/TV-watching furniture grouping? ::tries to remember living room layout in more detail::

You without a couch -- I'm trying to picture it. Actually, of the two of us, I think I'm the one more likely to sprawl while watching TV; you actually sit up much more often than I do. Huh. Yeah, the two-comfy-chairs-plus-ottoman could be a viable option, I think.

Whether you need to add an actual bedlike object depends partly on what you anticipate your guest situation being, realistically. I'm perfectly happy to make a nest out of two comfy chairs and a blanket, so don't get one on my account; but if you expect E and L (for example) to visit, you might want something a little less improv.

And yeah, I don't think a sleeper sofa's a great idea under the circumstances. They're a tremendous pain to move because they're so damn heavy, and they really aren't that comfortable to sleep on. I've been very grateful for mine, but I don't anticipate replacing it with another sleeper when I upgrade.

I sprawl all the time when I'm by myself watching TV. I just always forfeited the couch to you when you visited me. Because I love you so much. I assumed you knew that. And on that note? I am not making you sleep on two chairs! Jeez. Maaaaaaaybe with a sufficiently lengthy ottomon in the middle, but only in a pinch.

But I can't decide now about furniture. I have to get in the space, get to know it, maybe even measure it.

Down with sleeper sofas! *Hiss*
