I am a bit embarresed to say (being an artist and all) that I have never heard of a titltback image before. But that was so cool. I have to google that, and see if I find info on how to make them (and try it out) and if I find no useful information - I'm comming back to you to ask for advice!
... is it as simple as just making the "tilt-back" part of the image very light - like in light grey-ish tone? Low on saturation and high on white....
Here's how to do it (using photoshop) if you haven't found out by Googling yet:
You want the area around the image you want to make invisible white so it will blend in. Select the layer of the image you want to make invisible and go to Levels and tinker with the Levels Output slider till the image is invisble when the screen is up and visible when the screen is down. You can also go into Curves after you adjust your levels to try to make the image a bit more visible when the screen is tilted down.
