Spider... I'm all anticipation

My husband has an advantage over me. Yesterday evening "Spider" was on, but very late in the evening and I had already gone to bed. However, he was so enthusiastic and impressed that he woke me in the middle of the night to tell me about it. Spider is one of the few Ralph Fiennes movies I haven't seen so far, but this morning I immediately browsed ( Read more... )

Well the picture is definitely intriguing. What is this one about? This is really going to make me wish I could find a job faster. At least I get to look at all the nice pictures and hear you tell me about the movie. :D That's really awesome that your husband is supportive like that! My dad teases me about the actors I like but then again, they are rarely near my age and I have such a collective interest in movie and music it's easy to tease me. Anyways, back to Ralph, for a moment I thought it was "Schindler's List".

Well, actually my husband doesn't always agree with me. LOL He never understood my admiration for an actor such as Colin Firth, whom he thinks rather mediocre. So, I'm quite pleased he admires RF as much as I do.

My husband thought RF brilliant in this movie about a man who, because of his mental illness, must go through life unable to organize and understand jumbled images and memories, memories which may have a basis in reality or which may be creations of a mind gone confused. The clever thing is - at least that's what my husband told me - is the fact that memories of the past go hand in hand with occurrences in the present. He was really very impressed.

BTW, your icon is lovely! :)

Well, to a degree he can appreciate actors if he can state that they are mediocre. Does he have good reasons at least? I'm typically teased based on their looks which is really really ridiculous because I'm drawn to their acting more than anything. I will say, if the eyes are intriguing (like with Ralph Fiennes) I'm definitely hooked even if he's the bad guy. And Ralph has eyes and voice. *sigh*

Oh wow that sounds really interesting! I look forward to seeing it one day. Are you going to post screencaps when you get the movie? I'd love to see them. I have a few of his movies (I did have many pics of him from "Schindler's List" that I got for someone but got rid of them). I think I got some of him in "In Bruges" if you want me to post some. :)

Hehe the icon's existence is only because you were so generous in posting the screencaps and giving me permission to use them. :)

Now I'm going to start imagining him as Lawrence oy...

My husband is an artist himself and has an eager interest in all forms of art, but looks at works of art with a critical eye. Recently we went to The Reader together, although we thought it a very good film, we had more or less the same criticism. But we both thought Ralph Fiennes's performance flawless. :)

I hope to see more icons based on my stills. ;)
