Oh, now see, you've gotta go on with this! It's a fascinating setup and there are so many directions you could go with it. I'd love to read it, if you decide to do so!

Honestly, I'm not sure where to go with it or if I even want to. It was just one of those things that pop into your head. Of course, the idea may keep prodding at me until I add more. *g*

That the spell that brought Buffy back (post gift) plus the spell that empowered slayers would result in just this "thing" that you wrote about. It also makes perfect sense that living the long slayer life would increase her powers.

In the fanfiction of my mind, which will never get written, Buffy tells Spike this in some bedroom moment when he has doubts that he should occupy any more of her "mortal, normal" life. Much smoop and happiness happens, which is why I would suck at fanfiction.

You do it really well, which is why I LOVE to read your stuff. Once again, wish you had a website. Someday one of your boys will be able to make you one!!

You know, Buffy has been on the recieving end of a lot of spells. Surely she would get some sort of "magic poisoning" after a bit- sort of like how arsenic builds up in a persons system when administered over time. And I did think the longer she was a slayer the more her powers would increase.

And you have not heard some of the fanfic ideas floating around in my head that have been rejected. Very bad badness. ;~D

Are you kidding? The boys will probably want nothing to do with mom's totally weird vampire show obsession and actively pretned it doesn't exist. Although they did watch it with me last summer, they still thought I was really weird. This from kids who watch shows like My Gym Partner's a Monkey. :~)

I'm not sure. It was kind of one of those spur of the moment ideas. And I've got three other things I'm trying to finish. Not to mention I've got to get started on my PP fic- of which I have three whole words written- which is due at the end of next month. I'm glad you liked this though. *gives you snickerdoodles*

Yay for three whole words! ;) I'm sure you'll get there eventually. You always do.

This IS the beginning of a series, right? Even if it's just a short one. Right? I will be completely frustrated if you leave it here after this wonderful beginning. Well, more completely frustrated since, as you know, frustrated is my usual mode of being. Now, I will let you alone so you can continue with your fic.

Um, maybe? *ducks in case of thrown objects* I'm actually not sure. This just came to me and I don't really have anything planned out, but who the heck knows. This may keep bugging me until I add more to it. ;~) I'm really glad you liked it though, especially for a spur of the moment thing.

I love this concept -- that given enough time, the dose of demon essence used to create a slayer might begin to spread and grow much further than the watchers intended, perhaps until the demon-ness takes over the slayer completely! The fact that no slayer has ever lived long enough for them to learn this fact until now is a brilliant touch.

By the way, congratulations! Remember back a few months ago when I nominated your fic Heartwood at some of the award sites? It's won 2nd place in the "Best Buffy Short Fic" category in Round 1 of the Serenity On The Hellmouth Awards!

They haven't posted the award banners yet, but that link will take you to the page with the winners' names. =D

You do have to wonder, don't you? The average life span for an active slayer is 2-3 years but Buffy has spent about 7 trying to get more in touch with, and bring out more of, her slayer side and nearly every night actively using it. The Slayer is a construct created by men, not a naturally born demon or half-demon. And who knows exactly what types of demon essences were used to create the slayer line?

Thank you for your congrats! I couldn't believe it when I went over and looked. (There was a certain amount of squeeing done by me. ;~D) Very, very cool and a little surreal. And it wouldn't have been in a position to win anything if you hadn't liked it enough to nominate it, so thank you so much for that too. :~)
