The End of Time Pts. 1 & 2 - "The universe will sing you to your sleep."

I can't believe it's over. The end of Tennant's time as the Doctor. It was epic, dramatic, mad, brilliant, sad and so much more. I loved it and hated it both. It was hard to watch in parts and in others I could watch it over and over. I didn't cry watching it through the first time, but during the second rewatch I did. Now I'm on the third time ( Read more... )

Your whole post describes my feelings very aptly. We are not just losing Ten, we are losing everyone and that feels like a knife twisting your heart.
Wilf's little kiss to the Tardis made me cry too. Rose's "see ya" was equal parts happy and sad.
"You just have to love our emo TimeLord. He died as he lived" Excatly.

Tenth Doctor, you will never be forgotten.

Yes, we are definitely losing the whole crew. I suspect that Moffat will bring his own characters back that he's created, but Russell's are well and truly gone. But out of all of them I will miss Ten the most. He will truly never be forgotten by the fans.

The moment when Wilf begins knocking is audacious, mind-blowing, and heart-breaking and, just in case you missed it the first time, RTD has him knock again. Talk about twisting the knife. . .

"And Rose. . .he had to see Rose one more time." Quite right too because this Timelord needs to end where he began and this viewer applauds RTD's tenacity.

Thank you for sharing your reflection. You give voice to the emotions triggered by these last two episodes and this Timelord. Your last sentences make me cry because this is good-bye and Goodnight. . .ready or not.

I was sure the four knocks had come in part one when the Master was banging on the can in the wasteland. When Wilf knocked it was definitely mind blowing. And so innocent...He had no idea what he was doing had such a terrible meaning.

I loved that he went back to see Rose too. He created a circle. He had to see her one last time...his true love. With Eleven, the feelings for Rose won't be there, those feelings were strictly reserved for Ten.

You're welcome and thank you for saying that about the last sentences. I'm glad that my opinions touched someone.

"Ready or not." Aptly put...And I'm not ready.

Another reason I felt compelled to respond to your reflection was that I had read so many angry, bitter, vitriolic reviews that sadly didn't appreciate the bittersweet beauty of this gift.

I came to Doctor Who in 2005 when RTD revived this series. Have I always agreed with his choices? No---Journey's End still rankles but Doomsday. . .Doomsday. . .who would ever have expected such an exquisite expression of love and grief in a "children's show"? The last five years have showcased wonderful, imaginative, intelligent writing paired with passionate, intense, zany, and brilliant acting. What a gift. . .what a loss.

I don't know if I will be watching when Eleven continues the story. Ten is dead. . .long live Ten. . for us, his song will never end.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write and share your reflection. I hope it brought comfort and joy to many.
