AN: Jack’s illness and recovery after his trial in the bearskin is one that is only told retrospectively, in the next chapter. Yet I’ve often wondered what Stephen must have been feeling toward Jack at this time, considering the mess with Diana.

For all that POB has a glut of injury scenes throughout the series, he's not very into H/C is he? I extend a few other scenes like this later on.

And most hc fic is centered on h!Stephen/c!Jack which must have something to do with HMSS, but I am a glutton for h!Jack, so your fic has hit so many buttons at once.

Another excellent piece. There's been many fics addressing this missing time after the bear adventure, but none (that I recall) who tackle it quite this way - bringing in the discussion of the jealousy Stephen must be feeling over the whole Diana tangle. Stephen amusing himself at Jack's expense in the bear suit is perfectly in character and very much something POB would mention.

And there you have it - a wonderful insight into Stephen's feelings while for the present Jack remains wholly unaware.
