Congratulations for having turned General Aubrey into a three-dimensional character, a human being with faults and negative sides, but not completely bad. Like in MAES 39 with Babbington you have given the General a voice we never heard.

And your Philip is -as always- adorable. I long to hear more of him.

Since the General was never openly mean to Jack, I thought that his main problem was the same one which afflicts to many working parents today: that work and personal pursuits take priority over family far too often.
As for Phillip, you'll be hearing from him at least twice more before this series is done - I'm well past the halfway point.

Sounds more than reasonable. The General was likely too involved in politics to stay home and care for his young son, which would have been the duty of servants and tutors more likely.
