Staying Spoiler-Free: It's Possible, Isn't It?

I've had to temporarily defriend a couple of folks for no real reason other than they've admitted being spoiled on DH.  They were courteous enough to put everything behind LJ cuts, but I'm afraid I'll peruse my Flist one day this week and find some screaming headline like "Hermione is a Dude!" (TM Stephen Colbert).

It's weird time, isn't it? I feel quite sad in a way, as although I only got involved immediately after HBP came out, I can remember vividly the number of people who disappeared literally overnight, usually because their ships hit the dust. Though, of course, many new people appeared because of new ones - like me. But I do wonder what will happen this time around and we've already talked about the horrifc possibility which I simply refuse to type any more, in case I jinx them, of certain characters not making it to the end.

As for spoilers; I'm hoping my tried and trusted head in the sand method will work once more. I'm concentrating very much on what's going on at Meta, trying to write myself, and avoiding like the plague all message boards etc. I've also disabled anonymous comments on my LJ, just in case. Ideally, spending this last week on a desert island minus computers, papers and TV would be nice, but sadly, not entirely practical. Midnight on Friday night is when I want to read this book, not before
