Okay, this? Is exactly why I love the idea of this comm. Taking a longer work and distilling it down to the brevity of a drabble but maintaining the same power, the essence of the story, and the same feel? That's awesome. This is a great retelling of Peace, truly a minimalist version (and I LOVE minimalism) yet imbued with so much more than the scant words you've selected. I'm very impressed and honored that you did this for me.

In my main fandom, Numb3rs, there was a character who was an amazing artist who was in a minimalist phase. She was an expert art copier and she had done a series of very small works where she had miniaturized classic portraits to see if their power remained. (Imagine the Mona Lisa drawn freehand about 6 inches tall.) I feel like that's what happened here. Now my initial fic is by no means a masterpiece, but you proved that reducing it, its power remained.

I might have made some funny noises when I saw you as one of the authors who needed a pinch-hit done, because I really rather adored the original story. I'm so honoured you took the time to give me such a lovely, lovely comment!
