This is great! I love Ray not having the words to make Fraser feel better, and seeing that he is unhappy with the city. Also, Ray getting flashes of things that he's never done, but wishes he could, when he's near death? And glimpsing Fraser. Wow.

Oh, this is really lovely! The original story hit me hard, in the best way, and this one had just as visceral an impact. Wonderful.

Oh, I really love Ray seeing what might have been at near-death moments. And seeing him and Fraser together like that--it really brightens the story at the end and offers some hope, just as the original story brightens at the end when Ray jokes with Fraser and he comes to a kind of acceptance.
