This is interesting - it makes me think, by implication, just how dizzyingly disconnected Jack is. 'Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose?'

It made me think, too. Since Jack plays everything cool, no one can really see the downside of his position. Owen, maybe, toward the end there.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

There is something terribly ironic about being jealous of Jack for any reason, ever, because all the advantages he has in life come at a terrible cost. At what cost comes his freedom? Chilling.

There is. I'm fascinated by how wrong we often are about other people, you know?

I know Tosh cared about Jack, but (at least in my head) she had no concept of what he might see in her life to envy. He simply convinced her too well that it was all a big adventure to him.

Thanks for your comment!

Always lovely to see Toshiko fic, and I love the balance and irony between this piece and donutsweeper's. Great job.

Hee thanks! I'm glad the irony and balance worked, because they were the #1 reason I wanted to write it. Well, that plus I always wanted to write Tosh, and this was the perfect opportunity to dip my toe in. :)

Oh, lovely, sad view of Tosh and a great reflection of Jack in Donutsweeper's drabble!
