Oh, I love the way this involves all the senses. Smell, sight, sound...and the tension between them is very present, too. And I like the play with words on inspiration/respiration. Thank you!

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. To reverse abstract into physical detail was my immediate response, and the ficlet ran to twice the length before I ruthlessly chopped it down to size.
