Oh, that last line sealed it. The original fic gives it so many layers of meaning.

The beautiful new/beautiful old contrast is lovely, and his sense of possession, and maybe not knowing the truth. Oh Doctor. Thank you so much.

this is really really late, and you've possibly forgotten this comment, but i just remembered that i never told you how much i enjoyed the original of this fic. and i was so surprised, because i remember being upset and weirded out when yahoo news told me astrid was the TARDIS, but you sold it to me absolutely and completely, to personal canon level, and the writing was really beautiful at the same time. i don't know why i didn't say this at the time- perhaps i shall blame the anonymous fest-ness... anyway. just wanted to say :)

Heh, I get email up dates on comment replies, so no worries. I actually really hated that episode, so the fic was sort of an attempt at redeeming it a bit. Also, the TARDIS fascinates me, because it's made clear that she has a long history even before the Doctor comes on the scene, but we know next to nothing about it. And one thing seemed to fit with another and... I'm really glad you liked it, because I was afraid that it was going to look a bit slapdash the way I kept throwing bits together.
