Ugh, this really hurts, but in that good way that a deep look into Daniel's character should. You really captured the contrast between then (when the Stargate was salvation) to now (when it's become something a lot more ambiguous).

*shivers* Daniel - not so much the optimist as he once was, and with good reason. When I read, In the beginning they thought it meant 'Doorway to Heaven'. The only way that's true is if he counts the endless funerals. I said, "Oh!" out loud. It's just ... so TRUE.
