Penny and George cooling their heels was very entertaining, and I enjoyed the entire scene with the slayers. George realizing Xander'd missed the reap and where he'd ended up led to the entertaining and tension filled mad dash to the port. Of course Buffy's first instinct would be to save Dawn. It's what she does. George talking Buffy and Dawn out of leaping into the light was wonderful, but I thought she was absolutely furious with Dawn for trying to get out of reaping. Instead, George was filled with the righteous fury of fear. Dawn calling her on her tears brought that home beautifully.

You don't want to know how many times I re-wrote the "George talks Buffy down until Dawn gets the will to tell Buffy to go" scene. That one took several passes to get the balance. A lot of it was because Dawn was too passive in my initial passes, and without her admittedly minor input, George sounded a bit like a bitch and Buffy sounded like a spoiled child not getting her way.

I'm glad you thought I managed to find the right balance here.
