So, yes - yes. Right on! Love the Starbuck characterization in here as well, particularly the haircut scene; there's so much great visceral detail in that. And just, in general, it's good to see the Sam/Kara pairing get some love. When I wrote that fic, I did it thinking there was a good chance of never seeing him on the show again, so I was trying to give him a good sendoff. Little did I know everything coming, with his Cylon status and his role as the hybrid, and such a nice tribute being paid to the pairing at the end. I think they really were in love, in spite of all the crap they went through, and I like seeing that acknowledged!
Thanks again!

I'll write a thorough reply when the anonymous period ends, but Needy Dorky Remixer needs to point out something that s/he might have been too subtle about: the title and summary were meant to be hints that this fic was supposed to recast Starbuck as Phoenix and Anders as Cyclops.

I'm glad my Starbuck worked for you, and I absolutely agree with you about Sam/Kara. They're complicated, but I think they really did love each other, despite everything. That said, I don't think I ever would have written them if not for your fic, so, I'm glad your one and only BSG fic featured them! ♥
Again, I'm glad you liked it, and thank you for having so many terrific stories for me to choose from!

I love Sam's hybrid voice in the interstices of the story
Oh, yay! At first I wasn't sure I could pull it off. (River Tam, yes. Illyria, sure. But hybrid-babble? Eek!) But it ended up being really fun to write.
these glimpses of Kara, broken but pulling herself together (like the ship Bill's holding together with hope and glue)
I'm thrilled that you noticed that! She's splintered, too.
Thank you for reading!

I'm sure there are things I missed in his hybrid-babble, but the Final Four comment made me giggle with the basketball context in the story.

Hee! I had way too much fun with the hybrid babble once I got the hang of writing it.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this. Thank you for reading!
