I love this! Thanks so much for writing it. It takes that earlier episode and brings it to the fore, clothes the few scraps I wrote in a whole fully-realised and emotional scene, still all about Giles but without all that hindsight. I think the use of his father's gun and his father's words of advice is my favourite idea - explaining both the weapon and where he got the impetus to make the shots.

Since Echoes, I've written some pre-series Giles around his early Watcher days, but I've never written this scene, and now I don't think I need to. I shall point others at this instead. *g*

I hope you had fun writing and that your own remixed fic pleases you as much as this does me!

Your other pre-series stories were very much on my mind as I wrote this, and I wanted to write something that would slip in amongst them. Though I think this Giles isn't so much the rough guy of "Facing the Future". Yay to find out that approach worked!

It really does work. And I think once your Giles gets his thoughts together he'll be a little less positive about the Council's takeover. So he fits quite nicely, at least in my head!
