"Actually, I was," John said against his mouth. "I was freaking out that you were freaking out."

OH BOYS &hearts &hearts &hearts

I love this a lot -- the way you've spun out the original, Rodney's reaction to John's reaction (infinite recursion!), what the room turns out to be meant for (that's ingenious!), and of course the scene at the end where we're hovering on the precipice of watching them figure out that they're both torturing themselves for nothing. YAY!

Yes, this is what those looks meant, the bigger context to my small story that you stretched so beautifully. You have Rodney's voice and the way he looks at the world nailed perfectly.

Awww, John and Rodney are so inarticulate with each other sometimes, it just makes me melt :o)

Thank you for writing this!

Oh clueless boys! I loved Rodney's panic at John not breathing, and then panic over John knowing and then... yea... boys not talking! Wonderful that the awkward talk actually had them stumbling into admitting and working out the wrong impressions. Great ending. Mouth to other parts indeed!

Great expansion on the original, especially the humor! :-D

Oh this is lovely! Oh poor boys-they really are the very best at failing to communicate, aren't they. :D And the anticipation, here, of waiting for (and willing) them to sort it all out is just delicious!!
