I love this. I'm a little incoherent, even though I've read it three or four times. Part of that is because--and you had no way of knowing this--this is very similar to the first novel-length original thing I ever wrote, in ways, and that makes me incredibly happy.
I love House being the reason Wilson can't have an heir, and House's manipulations and magic. I like the change of Summer to Theodora/Teresa, and it works well. I'm not usually an Amber fan, but you used her really well here, and she's true to character. They all are--the fic has no problem whatsoever with characterization.
I just...thank you. This is so good.

Course you do. I’m your remixer. What gave it away; or, should I say, what didn’t give it away?

That’s probably my fault… more on that after the reveal.

I’ve never written medieval romance, or anything remotely like this, so I have no idea how I settled on this universe.
I'm not usually an Amber fan, but you used her really well hereSummer turned into such a tricky character to play with. She dumps Wilson in the ending, unfortunately, in Asclepieia the kings can (and do) take mistresses. If their queens objected, they risked losing their place in the court. They had to deal. The trick became finding an impetus for her leaving; thus, Lady Volakis found her way to center stage during the final act. I ended up settling on Amber - instead ( ... )

Assuming I'm right, which is a big assumption, what gave it away is the neat little semi-obscure references. I know one person off the top of my head who does that, other than myself (and mine are mostly things that aren't cultural).
