This was awesome! I loved the POV change, and the interactions btw the Firefly crew and the Scoobies (Disneyland was awesome!) I really like how well rounded you made Caridad. Well done! I really enjoyed reading this.
This was an adorable story! I love River and Dawn, and the way that's so easily in the background - not that it is unimportant, but that it isn't the front and center of the story. It's natural, this isn't a story about two women falling in love, they're just a part of a bigger story, and I like that very much.
Caridad is kind of awesome here, too, the way she sees some of the things going on and only hears about others, but the story is still complete.
Caridad is a character I've been thinking about a lot in the last year or so (in part as a result of various race meta discussions), so it's really interesting to see what you do with her here--I was thrilled to be able to throw her a line in my original, but it's nice to see a larger place carved out for her. The post-series, pre-comics universe you carve out here is really very rich, which all sorts of details and associations on Cardidad's part that makes for a very fascinating texture. Thank you!
And I knew it had to be that story after I spotted Caridad in it. She feels like an old friend to me, because I wrote a Caridad/Kennedy story for a choc_fic fest last year. And I could see how your story, which made room for Chao-Ahn and Kennedy as well as Caridad, was related to the race meta that's been going on around fandom in the past couple of years, so part of my remix was a deliberate effort to foreground that.
So, anyway ... Thanks for letting me play with your story!

Looking at it, I'm definitely the one who submitted that prompt, so it's come full circle. And I'm glad I was able to get you write Caridad for me twice!
Ah hah hah! I had wondered if that might be so. We might be the only fans Caridad has. It's a small world internet. And that was a great prompt, by the way.
