Awesome! :D :D :D

Just one question: historically, hasn't Remix Madness stayed open through the anon week as well? Is there a reason that's changed this year?

There is no actual reason! Maybe it's just that we all have notoriously bad memories and thought this was the way it had always been done. :D

You know, it would be really nice if you guys had better communication this year (and last year), and if you could come up with serious/non-flippant responses for questions. It would also have been nice to have some idea of exactly when remix madness signups were to open, and how long we would have to write, before yesterday. It would have been nice to know whether or not this challenge would even run a little earlier in the year, since I think a lot of people assumed it wouldn't once the spring remix season had come and gone ( ... )

We're sorry that our communication style doesn't work for you; we figure that this is a fun exchange, and our comments reflect that, but obviously that doesn't work for everyone, as you point out.

Many of the questions we are asked in these posts are already covered in the FAQ, which is why they're not added (again).

That said, thank you for your feedback! We'll take it into consideration if we run Remix again next year (which will likely be either entirely on LJ or entirely on AO3, with no multi-site component, to make it easier for people to find information).

What does the "Semi-anonymous Prompt" box mean?

If you check that, your signup with show you as anonymous, which doesn't really work for Remix Madness, since you have to give the list of your stories to remix. My advice would be to just ignore it!

What does the "claim" button mean? Does one have to click it to write a remix?

It's how you choose the writer you want to remix. It makes it easier when you go to post your completed story. You can claim more than one author, too.

Hope that helps!

Can you please create a countdown to when the collection is going to open? Here's a website that does it for you: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/create

I'm sorry, but beyond saying it'll open some time on Sunday evening, we won't assign a time to it. There's generally at least one story outstanding on opening day, and we won't go live until everyone has one. The time on the archive is just the latest we can go on Sunday; it doesn't actually indicate the definitive opening time.

You will get an email when the archive opens, and we post here to let people know, too.

See, I was thinking the time on the archive was the earliest time the collection could open, because that's what most other exchanges do. Having a countdown to that earliest time would mean I (and presumably others) would better able to budget our time.

It's much more likely to be the earliest time. Either way, we won't go live without an hour warning here, for the last minute editors.
