Not crying. Not. Crying. I like what you did with the song-- wove it throughout the whole story, but didn't give away how sad it really was until the sad, sad ending. What song is it, btw?

Anyway, this is just gorgeous.

Thank you!

The song is a really old song called "You'll Never Be the Sun," and the version I know is a BEAUTIFUL trio by Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Rondstadt.

A part of him wanted to devour every word, but another part knew that he could only read it for the first time once. He should savor it, hold each syllable against his tongue and let it dissolve into his memory.

That's exactly how I felt when I read this :) I think I love you, you know that?

Yes, just yes. Sirius/Baby Harry is totally and utterly my platonic OTP. That scene is exactly how I imagined it, with the leather jacket and James pretending to be upset but really not, and then you throw in the bit with Remus, and my heart just broke a little, right there. *sigh*

And Peter, getting lost in the whirlwind of James's new life, and I can just see them growing apart, and Peter getting resentful. And your Peter voice is so perfect, gives ( ... )

Yay! Your comment tickled me to pieces, I have to say. This was a lot of fun to write. I knew I was going to use this story the first time I read it, because I could see some of the events so clearly. The idea to have Harry finding the list only came later.

The song is an old Irish folk song. I've tried to find an MP3 of it -- by anyone -- but so far I have been unable to. I know my mom has a version on CD, so maybe I'll be able to rip it from her. ;)

Anyway, I'm thrilled you enjoyed it!

I should be in the shower right now but instead I'm here trying to leave a good comment but I can't because I'm crying. I loved it. Saving it and everything because it made my heart clench. ♥!
