When Evey woke, she wasn't immediately aware of anything but the nice, cozy bed she was in, and the nice, warm boy she was snuggled up against.

Karal hadn't actually meant to be snuggling her, but his sleeping self had obviously had other ideas. He was too used to having her with him while he slept, now.

Or at least, having who she was without the gremlin bite.

He shot back away from her so fast he whacked into the wall, staring wide-eyed at the noisy lump. "Evey?" he said cautiously, hopefully, reaching out to try and lift the edge of the blanket so he could see her. "Please tell me it is you?"

He peeked out at her. "I know. And she was, very," he agreed. "And the dancing was, umm, yes. I've never seen anything like it. But it wasn't you! It was because of the gremlin bite!"

"I would never wear that," she added eagerly. "Or dance like that. Unless -- no, I wouldn't. Or do...most of that."

Karal peeked out at her a little bit more, completely unable to help the tiny moment of intrigue at unless and most of that. He shook it off. "No, you wouldn't, and certainly not in front of or to a stranger. And everyone will know that."

"But what if someone took pictures?" she wondered, covering her face again.

"Umm." Karal resisted the urge to hide under the bed.

She eyed him.

"...someone took pictures, didn't they?"

"Luke's mechanical creature was with him, and I know it has taken recordings of things in the past, so..." He didn't know that there were pictures. "Maybe?"

Evey beat her head against her knees. Repeatedly.

Karal, eyes wide, reached out to try and stop her, up on his knees, hands curling around her shoulders. "I will go and talk to him! I will ask him to erase them, and I am sure he will, because it is the right thing to do. And, and if not I'll make Altra go and zap him when he returns until he agrees!"

"You don't have to do that," Evey said, looking up, though she was touched by the gesture. He got a smile out of it, anyway.

He smiled back, just grateful she'd stopped. "Nevertheless, I'm going to," he said, sounding very determined. "After language club."

She smiled a little wider, then faltered a little. "So. Regardless of...all the other things that happened last night -- why hadn't you slept until then?" she asked worriedly.

"Oh." His smile turned sheepish and he rubbed a hand through his hair. "You remember that."

She nodded. "It's very clear amongst all the...other stuff."

She blushed, thinking of the other things he'd said. If she'd been herself, that would be such a pleasant memory.

Karal eyed her, took a guess at what was going through her mind, and blushed to match her. "I had to make her stay with me somehow," he said, sounding slightly strangled. "It was all I could think of!"
