wedding liner notes

So, Jen and I got married. Some of you were invited, and to others this may come as surprising news. (We were surprised perhaps most of all: eight-odd years into a relationship between two individuals, neither of whom believe in the BS medieval patriarchical property ritual of marriage, after having two kids and long after moving in and starting ( Read more... )

I am sad to have missed it, but especially after seeing that great playlist. I SEE A DARKNESS best wedding song 2016?

Don't have to settle for just seeing the playlist, there's a download link also! Make my Dropbox cry!

It was very nearly our first dance song, but there was some concern as to how the parental set would respond to the presence of a particular word in the song. (Duh, there would be no response, because they would never hear or understand it.)

The 2012 version that we ran with is especially danceable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iV4NwSbscg

Not a dancing set otherwise, more a collection of gradually-less-relevant cool tunes to groove to while catching up with old friends at your table.

Gee whiz, now I want to annotate the playlist here.

Jen picked up on a subtext in your comment that flew right by me, that being: we regret not having been able to have you as a guest as well! After our immediate family, my band and a set of longtime next door neighbours, we had run up against the fire code for venue capacity. On the bright side, we will have a great deal of opportunity to commiserate in New York at the next wedding!

Oh yes:

Duplex - Dog With A Sweater On: Lights up, everybody out, party's over! (This song is one of Clara's faves.)

The happiness and good will generated by the harmonious orbits you and Jen inhabit flows out to us all. Glad you're making it.
Thanks for the liner notes, a good read and listen.

BTW - If you ever book a show on the Sunshine Coast, i have room for a few people to stay over night.

happy trails

Thanks for the well wishes, Rick! You'll probably never see this response, but I hope to take you up on the offer in the next year or two. Cheers!

I keep smiling and smiling when I see that picture on my friendslist. Good choosing, y'all. <3

Anything that makes a chronic migraine sufferer smile must be potent stuff indeed! (Wait, does it hurt when you smile? If so, I'll have to replace it with a bar graph or something boring.)

I chose Jen with the power of science and statistics! Every day I thank the mighty spreadsheet above. She chose me with ... a jeweler's ability to perceive the potential value of a diamond in the rough... at least, she thought there might be a diamond somewhere under all that hair. It pays to be choosy!
