the end of a chapter

(LiveJournal post started, from the looks of things, in January, and incrementally added to over months of coffee breaks without ever getting any closer to being "finished" -- likely because, as an arbitrary dip into the stream of consciousness with no beginning and no end, it didn't need to be said at all. (But I like writing it, the same way Read more... )

It wasn't your first year at Cap, I registered you for your classes the year you went to Scandinavia to cruise the demo scene. The same year that UBC abruptly raised their entry requirements, inflating the Cap population to such a degree that I had only been able to register myself for 2 real classes (2 days earlier, you being I believe on the recovery from academic probation and therefore allowed only the scraps) -- by the time I went to register you there were basically zero courses remaining. I seriously considered signing you up to do costuming for that semester's production of the Drama department.

Then, being only registered for 2 classes, I decided it was time to ditch Cap and move across the country to Montreal, about a week after classes had started at Concordia.

It wasn't your first year at Cap, I registered you for your classes the year you went to Scandinavia to cruise the demo sceneLet's see, we graduated high school June '97, I skipped college until fall '98; the Demo Cruise was summer '99 (no regrets: it probably bumped the year up from No Satisfactory Outcomes to Mostly Unsatisfactory Outcomes.) You may have actually physically registered me for fall '99, but I have a vivid memory of you sitting down with me at my kitchen table on Dunbar Street going "(sigh) look, just put your name down for one of these, one of those, look, I'm in this one and that one and you can be in them with me (art history and creative writing), OK, and you can put up with two of these." That was more of a holding my hand while I ticked the boxes; I had forgotten your actually physically registering on my behalf, so you were personally responsible for at least two of my terms ( ... )

PS, I can't believe I passed up the opportunity to address you as "Prince of Darkness".

I feel so statistically important that I read all of this, except I skipped a bit of the super hero pastiche in the middle, something that you perhaps can understand ( ... )

I skipped a bit of the super hero pastiche in the middle, something that you perhaps can understand.

It's, uh, a bishoujo senshi pastiche from a couple of Sailor Moon fans. Even I don't really understand the ending; I guess it was a dig at our high school's administration. A pity after such a strong start! Of course, if you didn't know us (or further, WEREN'T us) it's really pretty much empty signifying.

I don't know if my mind has been ruined by tumblr

(note: the answer is "yes", but continue)

but many of those words are hard to string together in my mind.

You mean long-form freestyle perblogging, or is there something particular to my diction? If the latter, can you give me a sample phrase causing you trouble? I'm unaware of relying heavily on Canadianism -- just switch out "Chapters" for "Barnes & Noble" and I think we're level.

I don't know where people go to write. It's becoming the domain of professionals: if we're not obligated to use the upworthy headline formula or only assigned material based on calculated virality ( ... )

I think my mind was just not working last night.

Also, LJ isn't reporting comments! It didn't report your comments on my entry, and neither your comments to my comments here.

Please note, one and all, that his significant other Jen also worked for Chapters downtown for a grand total of three weeks. Since we're taking inventory.

It just goes to show, I can write all that at such great length after so much time has passed and still end up learning something new!
