Never mind the mess...

You've reached the LiveJournal of [redacted to keep things professional], renaissance man of letters about town. I don't maintain A Homepage (typically in its place leaving a link to a Google search of my unique name combination) (to say nothing of its frequent misspelled permutation), but this LJ most likely is the closest I get ( Read more... )

Hello :) reluctance November 29 2006, 04:59:41 UTC
How cynical am I that I saw your upbeat comments and my spam alarms went off? And yet... no apparent link for Russian video lottery mail-order bride Texas hole'em download accelerators! The nickname also was simply too well-considered to be randomly generated, and rang bells of recognition. But where from? Fortunately it was the key piece I needed to reintegrate my conception of you here with forays on Facebook and 43things and as a result, I can now say "Hi!" instead of "... huh?"

I like youIt is always nice to be recognised and admired for one's achievements and, well, being the swell person behind them. Certainly my expectations of it (and my ongoing minor internet celebrity more generally) have diminished since I tumbled off my throne in the e2 arena, but strangely even my discrete self-indulgent activities over at MobyGames and, yea, even 43things have managed to garner me some positive attention. (And then there is that blasted Britney Spears video, which -- filmed without my knowledge -- has been living a merry old life ( ... )

For the benefit of my future coterie of biographical historicans: 54 weeks shy of a decade later, after I'd gotten married, after she'd gotten married and divorced, after she'd moved across the continent to my coast and then even to my city, and then away from it, after circumstances threw together a chance for us to perform at a concert together and then I discovered my passport had expired... I had one final chance to meet her, before she relocates indefinitely to the middle of the continent. So last night I, and my band, played music at her wedding on Mount Hood, where I got to meet her for the first time. Probably not what could have been reasonably anticipated when she first said "let's date!", but some species of satisfactory resolution nonetheless.

Though all relevant parties already know the outcome of this casual offer, to prurient observers and posterity I leave this indication: this second, far more sensible proposal was taken up on.

aww, this kind of genuflection at the gates is what I was trying to avoid by (anything you need to know about this journal? the short answer is: heck no!) -- it's not like anything here is restricted from the public, and sometimes I even like to speculate and play guessing games regarding who such and such new commenter is. (In any case: welcome! Reading this journal means you will find out about cultural events in Vancouver you won't be attending 8)

you cheered me on 43 thingsIn your case, of coss I recognise you since you had such a wonderful density of whimsical goals (swim in a pool of noodles?! their sum reminded me of another "rad" friend in your general vicinity who I'd link to if everything weren't resolutely friendslocked) and, uh, if you're turning up here around this time the why is really a matter of my putting together two and two 8 ( ... )

duh, "of course I remember you! Here's a specific detail pertaining to someone who isn't you!" The lightbulb-hat and porcupine-petting-zoo at least stuck in my memory also. Ah yes, and that teapot. (Oh yes, that teapot.)

Well, this is why I write things down... because my memory is just good enough to get me in trouble 8)

First I get people and I assume they're spam, then I soften up... and get actual spam. Way to callously affirm my foolish cynicism, world! And, of course, now that I'm on the spam train there's no way off short of moving to the abhorred friends-only format.
