I have a similar issue, where I accumulate so much STUFF, but to justify it for CK it needs to be some ridiculous 500+ word essay with an introduction and conclusion.

Funny how CK used to be my jotting box, with no edits allowed.

This was exactly my problem, I'm not nearly as meticulous as you when it comes to writing!

I've tried collecting and cataloging things at various points in my life, but it always turns out that I'm really bad at it. Now mostly I just try to consume as much quality media and information as I can, and hope that some of it sticks in my memory, which seems to actually be pretty good most of the time.

It was definitely Marshall McLuhan, who was, incidentally, a proud part of our (canadians') heritage (they played these things here all the time when I was growing up).
