And the infamous House Thread....

Oct 04, 2007 23:04

The house looks like something history hasn't touched in at least five decades. It sits on the top of a mountain, cold and solitary, a beacon to an era that is no more. The stone building stands hundreds of feet tall; a miniature palace with a deco-feel, long columns standing on either side of a singular stone cylinder ( Read more... )

The front halls open up to reveal a house within just as grand as it is outside. The wood paneled walls are plastered with cubist artwork that curls up at the edges. The check tile floors lead upwards to a dual staircase, covered in dark red carpet that was probably lush at some point splitting off the sides. Two red ropes block off the stairs with the words "Please attend to the dining area and ballroom."

An old-style record player plays this song on a loop.

Reinette studied the foyer as it opened up before them, noting the faded coverings and window treatments. Though she could recognize the quality, she also lensed a period of lingering disinterest through the years. It had not been well cared for.

She turned to her escort, eyes still moving through the room.

"It is still quite the interest, of sorts."

Adric had put on a suit for this occasion, and couldn't help feeling out of place and uncomfortable. His tall, beautiful companion wasn't helping matters, either. What was all this about?

Clearing his throat in an attempt to shake off his nerves, he nodded. "I'm sure it was splendid in it's time," he agreed. He followed alongside, her looking at the dusty hangings and worn runners. "Do you suppose anyone still lives here?"

"There is certainly a someone involved," Reinette mused. "Though I am not sure they live here."

Reinette followed Adric along the velvet ropes, noting the direction that it lead them. They were all being lead, it seemed.

"It is the person and not the place that interests me. Who could know us all, and out locations, to send the invitations so effectively?"

Dinner, Part One relative_npc October 5 2007, 03:15:40 UTC
The dining hall is immense, and styled to look almost as if it was cut from a cathedral. The walls are oak, and panel upwards to an oval like a tower would, although this is on the ground floor.

Every time someone steps inside, a record player plays this recording in a low male voice: "Welcome to my home. Do come inside and take a seat. You have been seated next to your companion for the evening. You learn the most about yourself when you put the right people together, don't you think?"

At the far end of the room is a stain-glass window of the garden of Eden, completely empty. The glass shines as though it were daylight, and you don’t remember seeing the glass from the outside. A simple look reveals that lights have been placed outside the stained glass, and on it's opposite side is a stone wall.

The table is already set and prepared with name plates, seating everyone next to their chosen date. The Doctor. Origin: France. or Laura Roslin. Origin: Outer regions.Soup and bread sits hot on the table, ready for eating, and ( ... )

Benton eyed the Doctor a bit, before stepping into the dining room. It was massive and beautiful, if a bit Gothic in scale and decorum. Only seconds after entering, a recording began to play, which made Benton wheel around, looking for the source. He let it run through, and blinked a bit. There was already food on the table, and Benton found he was suddenly hungry. "Look at this, Doctor," he called, stepping to the table. Then he noticed the name plates. "Here's mine," he said. "This must be yours."

"Apparently." The name plate said The Doctor. Origin: UNIT and he couldn't help but wonder how the other Doctors had been differentiated.

"We seem to be the first to arrive. Shall we sit and await the others?"

"Suppose we should," Benton said, pulling out his chair. He eyed the food with considerable interest, before settling down into his chair. "Don't suppose you know anything about the fellow that sent the invitation then, do you? I asked about, but no one I spoke to had ever heard of him."

Lucy was standing quietly off to one side of the front door, hands clasped in front of her and looking around with a cool gaze. She'd decided to wear the red dress Harry liked so much--he'd told her she could knock out a crowd with it. And even if that wasn't the point of this little gathering, she still wanted to look good. They might not take her seriously, but she could at least take pride in her appearance.

She gave her companion for the evening a slight smile. "Are you looking forward to this, Doctor?"

The Doctor himself was dressed as normal, cricketing whites and all and although the woman beside him was beautiful...probably...well definitely but just not his type.

He offered his arm and returned her smile. "Ohh I'm sure it will be a night to remember."

Lucy took his arm, deciding he probably had no clue who she was. That might end up working in her favor, and at the very least had the potential to be fun.

"It ought to be," she replied. "Mysterious invitations, assigned dates, not a sign of our host..."

He was always the gentleman, it would never cross his mind to not escort a 'date' thusly.

An excited smile lit up his already youthful features. "I can't wait to get to the bottom of this. Shall we go inside?"

Nyssa almost jumped when she heard the disembodied voice, but quickly recovered, the Dining Room was enormous, beautiful yes, but the sheer size of it... She saw her and Ian's name plates and gestured towards them, "We're over there," she pointed. And sure enough they were, Nyssa. Origin: Traken Union She sat down and looked around at the food. It looked incredible, but what to try first? She asked Ian, "What are you having?"

((OOC: Sorry if this shows up twice in someone elses thread or something, Livejournal was having some issues apparently and wouldn't let me post the comment as a reply))

Ian adjusted his bow tie, which had suddenly become uncomfortable. "I see what you mean." Now he could understand how Adric felt about it all. It just wasn't something you generally had to deal with everyday.

He frowned when he heard the voice, wondering what was going on and who was orchestrating it. However, the food smelled good and he realised he was hungry, so he was prepared to wait until his stomach was full - or at least a little less empty.

His name plate said Ian Chesterton. Origin: London, which was definitely him. He picked up the wine, looking to see what vintage it was. "I think I'll be traditional and have some soup." Since everything else was so formal.

She nodded, "So will I, and a small salad I think?" She filled her plate and then her glass, with the wine Ian had been looking at. She tentatively tasted the soup and was happily surprised with how good it tasted. Nyssa turned to Ian, "This soup is amazing!"

Ian tasted some of the soup for himself. "It is!" he agreed, surprised.

"It makes me wonder why though." He dipped some bread into his soup. "I mean, is it a last meal for a condemned man? Or woman."

ooc: whoops, sorry about the italics on that last comment, I didn't check it properly at all after I posted! And do you have any preferences on which room to explore?
