Martha wasn't sure what she was doing here. Time to save the world, they'd said, but so far nothing of note seemed to be happening, and the Doctor was off taking care of his other self, or something...but no one had even explained fully for or from what. Tom was still missing, and she hadn't a clue where to even start looking for him. With the ( Read more... )

The Doctor was sitting outside his own TARDIS, Ace's ghettoblaster in front of him playing another one of her jazz tapes, a book propped open up against it. In his hands were five tennis balls, which he was attempting to juggle, with varying degrees of success.

When he saw Martha, he waved and called out a cheerful "Hello!", and two of the balls hit him on top of the head.

Martha winced a bit as she watched the balls fall, glad they were just tennis balls. Veering over toward him, she smiled in response.

"Hello. You all right?"

"Of course, of course," the Doctor replied, waving a hand to brush off her concern and beaming at her as he leaned over in his cross-legged position to retrieve the offending balls. "A few taps on the head don't bother me."

He set the balls neatly next to the book and stood, brushing off his trousers before extending a hand to her. "I don't believe we've met. I'm the Doctor."

Of course he was. Then again, she hadn't met any of the others, really, save the other one of hers.

"Nice to meet you, Doctor. I'm Martha Jones." She shook his hand then gave him a bemused look. "Are you the...first one?" He looked very young.

The Doctor noticed Martha wandering around outside and contrived to bump into her. She hadn't seen Martha in much too long, and she had, after all, extended an invitation to Martha to pop in and say hello sometime. Couldn't hurt to push that along. With that in mind, she stepped out towards Martha's path.
"Hello!"

Martha stopped, recognizing the voice if not the face. They'd spoken on the communicator and that meant that this...this had to be the female Doctor.

For once, she was more grateful to be recognized than to worry too much over the change in gender.

"Hello!"

"How are you?" she asked because it couldn't hurt to go along with pleasantries. She didn't often, but that was mostly because greetings tended to be along the lines of 'Hello, run for your life'. Strange, though, that the end of the universe should bring more slow-paced meetings.

"I'm all...I'm good," Martha said, just pausing a little, smiling, and thinking something along the lines that they'd never really exchanged pleasantries before. "How are you?"
