The Death of OneManga

Jul 22, 2010 13:04

I'm disappointed to see it go. Currently I'm making my way through 'One Piece' (again) and the only reason I started reading it again was because of OneManga's handy auto-save function that marks the last chapter you read. This way instead of rushing through the series so that I won't have to remember what chapter I'm on, I can go through it at a ( Read more... )

I haven't read Saiyuki in ages. I always did love that series though.

Mangafox.com has it (for now).

Yeah, I saw the notice last night and wondered if anyone on LJ would mention it : ) I marked down the names of the scanlation groups of the few series that I really want to see the endings for in the hopes that some might continue with the projects, otherwise, well, they've been taking mangas down for some time now and until I looked at the whole list I hadn't even remembered that I was reading some of them, so oh well. No point in crying over the inevitable.

The US publishers haven't and still won't see money from me. I'll always buy raw before I'll give them a cent for their shoddy translations. Maybe if they didn't do such a bad job they could justify the fact that they overcharge on every book they sell.

I don't blame you for your feelings about the US publishers. Those YGO volumes I mentioned? I didn't even get halfway through the series before I stopped buying them due to fact the quality was so bad.

Viz couldn't even be bothered to hire an editor to read the dialogue and fix errors. Real basic errors too that anyone would have noticed. For example, it got so bad that on one page they'd use names from the dubbed anime (why? I do not know since Viz wasn't involved with the anime), while on the next page the real Japanese names would be used.

I haven't bought anything from Viz since then.

It's lucky that publishers here know their work. And the price is cheap (still, the paper is bad for the price as well).

What I don't like is they damn censor everything. I mean I can't see everything for Rapan's manga I posted about long time ago. So I buy both version raw version + Thai version for both storyline and pics.

More sort of, I read at OneManga to catch the weekly stuffs and something like Claymore since it's like being released annually.
