I don't get fandom

Is it really that big of a deal if a character we thought was male turned out to be female? If it's true (there's no proof), it's not like the character's personality would suddenly change.

btw, for those curious, the fandom freak-out was due to this page (Spoiler's Alert) from chapter 19 of Kuroshitsuji. It's gotten some fans to start thinking ( Read more... )

I love androgenous women so I wouldn't know. I suppose some people are mourning the (possible) loss of a hawt guy because they are not interested in a hawt girl. It is a bit silly, especially if there is no shortage of male eyecandy in the first place.

I don't read Kuroshitsuji (yet) but to me that looks like a guy's mouth. The eyes could be either. Or it might be ungendered character. Who knows!

Kuroshitsuji especially has no shortage on hot guys (okay, the one is gay so he probably doesn't count but the others are straight! ...I think; I'm suspicious about two others).

Ungendered is certainly a possibility. The mouth and finger look like a guys while the eyes and legs look more feminine.

*snerk* Two comments from the (sadly locked) post on the comm:

Don't destroy my dreams like Fruits Basket did!!

and

OMG! not the same as Fruits Basket again! *goes and kills herself*

The wank would be hilarious if it did turn out to be Fruits Basket all over again (especially since I missed out on the FB wank). I picture millions of fangirls crying out in horror because they were OMG ATTRACTED TO A GIRL!!!!

I didn't see that as any indication that he is a she. And it is entirely possible that just as with the name, he can become whoever the young master wishes for him to become.

Besides, I'm still confused as to whether Grell's supposed to be male or female. Or both and neither. I suppose it doesn't matter...

Grell is definitely a guy. He says at one point that he wanted to have kids but couldn't because he was male.

As for Sebastian I think fans are freaking out for nothing.
