elephant parade

Does anyone know what the deal is with the elephant parade?
I just realized it's tonight.
And I _have_ to go.
But I don't know where and when.

You're talking about the Ringling Brothers elephants-entering-the-city thing? They march them through the Queens Midtown Tunnel, then across 34th Street to Madison Square Garden. I think it starts around midnight, but I'm not sure.

It's quite a sight. I used to live on 34th Street, and knew nothing about it... was drawn to the window one night by the reflection of flashing lights and looked down to see, well, ELEPHANTS (and zebras and clowns and other fun circus things) strolling right down my street. Definitely one of those I-freaking-love-New-York moments.

This sounds totally surreal.

Closest I've come to seeing something like that was when I by happenstance found myself following the carriage ride horses from center city as they were walking back to their stables..

Also reminds me of the story of the first giraffe to be taken to France - she basically walked from Africa to France.
