you made me cry with this one :-( i am a dog lover and i cry every single time one of them passes, the pain always seems unbearable but as Rachel stated the unconditional love they gave me in the years they were with me makes up for the pain.

great story!

It wasn't my intention to make you cry. I just needed to get things off my chest, and for whatever reason writing about it seemed like the best way.

Thank you for your kind words.

To think that I originally wasn't going to post this story...

I grew up with dogs, but the loss of Bigsby hit me the hardest because it wasn't a 'natural' passing, and even though I knew it was the best decision for him, part of me still feels as if I betrayed him.

Thank you for your kind words, and you're right. Experiencing a pet's unconditional love, for however long is true privilege and it certainly makes up for the pain I feel now.

This was a very well done fic that does a great job of capturing what it feels like to lose a pet, especially when it's before their time. (Certainly reminded me of the couple of times I've had to go through that in the past, and expressed a lot of what I felt back then.)

Thank you for your kind words. Going through that was one of the hardest parts of having a pet, but in the end, it was worth that and so much more.
