A week of home ec had taught Danni more than any of her academic classes, and what had it taught her? That she had literally no idea how to cook. Surfing around MeVid had given her a few sewing tips she was using to catch up in that part, but bringing her laptop into the practice kitchens... what if something spilled or steamed or caught on fire?

What she needed to find in the library was a recipe for something easy and healthy and delicious: what was the point of cooking for the very first time if she couldn't share the joy of success (and it would be a success, it had to be) and oh hey there were two dozen cookbooks here up front. A middle-school girl was using them, yes, but that many at once?

"Can I borrow one of these, or do you have a really big cooking project?" She smiled and made it seem like the girl would be doing her a favor. She'd be here all afternoon if she had to find them on her own. Cookbooks weren't organized "Alphabetical by author" or "B for breakfast, L for lunch" or anything like that.

Well, it was hard to know exactly what to look for when you're brand new to cooking, and in this case, almost too much was better than having too little and having to wander around the library looking for more.

But Naminé hadn't realized how many she had grabbed when she was collecting them, only concentrating on getting a few different kinds for variety's sake. So when the older girl approached and asked her, it was a minute before things had clued in completely.

"O-oh, no. You can go right ahead and use them," she mumbled out, a little too sheepish and occasionally looking down at a page about tips on how to cook the perfect rice. She had been here a while still, but a lot of older students still made Naminé terribly nervous. "I... don't have a big project. But if you do... y-you can take them."

"You're okay. I'm not trying to steal them from you." Danni grinned with her best "you're safe with me" face. She liked this girl already, even if she was so very nervous and shy. Honestly, that was probably why: it reminded her of herself at that age. Now, what had strange girls done that had made her feel good?

Look like they made mistakes too, for one. "You just had such a big stack, and I get lost easily in libraries." She picked up a book with a set of tarts on the cover and started to flip through it, more to keep up the facade than anything else. Pie might have been the cool new dessert back home, but she wasn't ready to try something so complicated yet. "Are you planning a party, or are you like me and are just starting out?"

At that, Naminé bowed her head again, turning a little pink at embarrassment. She had to remember that it was a school full of kids who were just trying to get through the year too. And that thought made her look back up and nod with a shaky smile.

"Just starting out, um," she fussed with the stack to put it into smaller piles so that the other girl could look through them better. "There's a couple of people here that I noticed can cook different things... and I've never really made something on my own. So, I-I wanted to see what I could find about it."
