[when the feed flickers on, the hand moves away from the screen to reveal something like a haphazard mess. the first thing you notice is a colouring book, child-like in quality. it's flipped to a page of the picture of an Ekans swallowing a Rattata whole -- the snake coloured purple painstakingly with a pencil crayon just a little off-screen

Ah. I heard a crash and though it might be prudent to investigate. [Pause.] Though I should ask--was my Vulpix just in here, by any chance?
Reply
There may be reason to think that she might've been. Why?
Reply
Because she just ran past me a moment ago at an extraordinarily frantic pace, which generally tends to be indicative of guilt of some variety.
[But then, a slight frown as he tries to figure out what exactly it is that Fuji's doing on the chair. Because it is Fuji, so there's no way of ever being certain, but...]
...And would you care for some help with that?
Reply
You know, I think you might just have the required inches.
[he says this as he clambers down from the chair, sweeping cranes aside with his feet to find a bare patch of floor to tiptoe on. conversationally--]
She didn't try burning anything down on the way, did she?
Reply
[Which says nothing of the burnt crane he's just spotted, or the Raichu inspecting it. But he doesn't see any reason to mention that, either, as he holds out his hands to accept the lampshade.]
Would you care to tell me what happened?
Reply
Hard to say. At the rate things are progressing, I'd suggest stocking up on fire extinguishers.
[the Raichu on the bed huffs and sits up, tail curling behind him into the shape of a perfect question mark. a hum, and Fuji holds up the lampshade.] Hold this?

What makes you say that?
Reply
The potential of fire.

[The implication here is not so much she wouldn't do that as it is she knows the dire consequences she'd face if she did. Baby of the team or not, he trains his Pokemon with firm standards in mind.]
Ah, did she ruin one of your cranes? I'm terribly sorry.
Reply
but he thinks he already knows what the reaction might be, and no matter what the fox symbolizes... he toys around with the idea for a split second, before filing it away for later perusal. rather, amusement--]
You know, I couldn't forgive you. [a pause, here. he looks over to the Raichu on the bed.] And the one who could wouldn't want to.
Reply
[But he's frowning a little at the Raichu; Pokemon may be difficult to read at times, but he's fairly sure he can interpret the cause for this one's distress with certainty.]
No, he only wants his crane back, doesn't he?
Reply
[at the mentioning of the crane, the Raichu's ears tip forward and his tail lashes out like a distraught yo-yo. the crane, however, remains burnt.
Fuji shrugs, nonchalant, but his eyes follow the bobbing of the tail, before darting back to focus. he flashes a quick smile.]
They're very much like children that way, aren't they. [a slight gesture to the cranes with the tilt of his hands.] Eighty others couldn't compare.

[And now his glance comes back to Fuji, because statements with layered meanings like that one rarely go past without further comment, and there's no telling which direction this conversation might spiral into now, knowing Fuji and his whims.]

On the other hand, lampshades are.
[replaceable, that is. he holds the lampshade up, just a tad rueful.]
Reply
[Because of course, he can't resist that light jab at Fuji's height (or lack thereof) after that casual denial of his offer of assistance a few minutes earlier.]
