I know this sounds gross, but I've a friend who swears by it. Take a Q-tip and swab the inside of your nostrils with Vaseline. That will prevent the tissue from drying out and causing nosebleed.

[And that's not gross at all! In the movie "She's The Man" with Amanda Bynes, they brought up using tampons to stop a bleeding nose, so... =p]
