At the risk of sounding like a dick, do something outside your comfort zone. Stick with Jersey - being somewhere new always takes some time for it to grow on you. And tell Is that he's a pansy-ass douche if he won't attempt to live outside of HIS comfort zone.

Man this place fucking sucks. Like, everyone I've met here who moves from another state agrees with me and are moving away again and they've been here for years longer than I have. It's not bad because it's new, it's bad because it's a shitty place to be unless you're from Jersey and used to this shit. And the reason he's not here already is because he can't afford to, not because he doesn't want to.

honestly? stick out your degree. If you're in a good school, don't switch if you like it and lose time and credits. That's something I really regret not doing now, and it's going to be a while before I get the chance to go back. Keep trying to make contacts with the music thing- volunteer if you can, suck up to everyone. It sounds like there is opportunity where you are.

Yeah, I feel like that's the right thing to do. But I know I would be doing A LOT better at school if I didn't have such bad anxiety from being here alone. I got fired from my on campus job as a tutor today for missing a big chunk of work because I was afraid to drive after a car accident. I'm always worried because if my car breaks down, or if I'm in some kind of accident or if I need a ride to the doctor there isn't anyone within thousands of miles who could help me. It screws me up in a lot of places (like not being able to make up work after missing class because I was too sick to drive to the doctor and get a note which would've allowed me to make up work) and I can't help but feel like resting and starting over would be better than toughing it out and getting shitty grades/making the people in my department get a bad first impression of me.

Aw, I'm sorry you got fired. That sucks so hard :(

I know sometimes you have to take care of your mental health before you can do anything else...

Good thing I didn't really need the money :/ It's not like I made that much anyway.

Staying home wasn't helping, though. When I managed to make myself start going out somewhere every day I felt a lot better.
