Raven was kind of in love with Nightvale, actually.
"I could totally just walk around here blue all I wanted to," she said. "People would just say, 'oh, there goes that blue girl, did you hear she made the honor roll?' They wouldn't even blink. Did you hear there's a girl here who was born as just a hand?"
The babbling was a good sign. The babbling meant she wasn't yet planning to shapeshift into a strange, hooded figure and try to infiltrate the dog park, yet.
"In your universe, sure. But in mine, we still don't know for sure that Russia isn't going to manage to blow us up before we even get to the sixties." Ah, yes. Truly, the fifties were the golden age of America. More than half the population with little to no options for controlling their own lives and an ever present threat of total annihilation.
Who wouldn't be nostalgic about all that?
"Do I have to figure it all out right now? I'm only barely working out that I can be blue if I want to."
"Dude, no. That's what's great about Fandom. And high school. More time to figure this stuff out." Kenzi grinned, closed her eyes, and lay back. "And it's not like I have half of that figured out yet. So don't listen to me if you have better plans. Just sayin', you got options."
"Are they hiding from the black helicopters, or the secret police?" Kenzi was watching a few of the helicopters swoop. Oddly, they seemed to avoid the airspace over Old Woman Josie's place.
"Why would they hide from those?" Cecil asked, looking at her a bit oddly. "They hide from things like..." he searched for an example. "Like street-cleaners!"
"Well, we don't know who they are," Cecil pointed out. "Or how they're chosen. And we know where some of them are, but it's pretty safe to assume they're other places, too. As far as the mimes go, you should talk to the local pest-control folks. They might have some tips on which poisons are best."
Oh, and they still needed to get that exorcist for Kenzi's mansion!
Cecil would probably faint if she tried that. Or have a conniption; he'd always wanted to try that.
"They wouldn't call you the blue girl, though," he said. "They'd just call you Raven. Pretty much everyone knows everyone in Night Vale." Or at least Cecil did; that was the same thing, right?
"Back home, if people saw the real me, they'd call me 'OH MY GOD IT'S A MONSTER DEMON KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT.' So it'd be an improvement no matter what."

She would totally hide from mimes. Especially around here.

"How are the secret police secret when everyone knows they're there?" This had been bugging her.
