Cool battle! And since I just finished the first season, this couldn't come at a better time for me. I like these icons a lot. I love how you take out backgrounds and move the composition around, like on 01 and 25 and 26. Is that a new thing you're trying? (Or something I just never noticed before?)

W E L L. I made an iconning resolution with the promise that I would force myself to do background extractions more often because I hate doing them--so tedious--so I usually avoid it. So it's a technique that I've been using more and more often in an effort to make good on my resolution. Hopefully by the end of 2013, I'll be really good at it! =D
Before I even get started on the icons, I have to say how much I love the banner for the battle. Perfect colors, texture use, text and examples to go under it and everything. That's how I knew this post was going to be amazing. And it didn't disappoint.

Sorry to butt in, but to me it actually makes a lot of sense that Jess likes #10, because the colouring in that icon made me think of her icons a little. And I thought: "How cool, Samantha is really mixing up styles here."
