"Christmas?"

[Have a curious sage.]

I've not heard of such a thing in my world. How is it special?

It's a time where those whom you love gather together to celebrate spending time as a family or friends. You also give one another gifts or share something special you have together to show how much you care for one another. In my country, it's traditional to share holy wafers to forgive each other's past transgressions and help them feel brighter about the new year.

[He pauses, taking in all the information.]

I see. It does sound interesting.

[It sounds like something he would like to celebrate, although he hasn't heard any of his friends mention the holiday.]

You do not celebrate Christmas or anything similar to it in your world, Mister Saleh?

No...I live day to day, always grateful for my family and friends, and for the Great Dragon. I am always grateful to be alive.

Grateful to be alive, hmm? That's something that's taken me quite a while to be grateful for.

...And why is that? Without a life, one would not bear witness to the world's beauty.

I believed dying was the answer I sought to fix the problems I was having.

...

[It briefly reminds him of a certain dragoon who gave up his life so recently, so it hits uncomfortably close to home.]

You know better now, yes?

It has been something I have conflicted with for months. So yes, I do know now that death was not the answer I sought after.

I am glad for that.

...Forgive me.

[He has an urge to talk his ear off about life, even though it's clear that Frederic already knows.]

Forgiving others is something that is apart of this holiday, but it can also be brought into beyond that. So I do forgive you, Mister Saleh. After all, I know you meant no harm.

Ah...thank you. I'd just suffered a difficult time recently, but it has passed now.

I won't pry into your business, but do know that I hope the difficult time you've had will stop lingering soon.

It will. I just...no, we all should work to ensure this doesn't happen again.

I'm surprised the Malnosso haven't given us any grief for this holiday, given their type of nature.
