[After the initial shock and realizing the town had indeed changed from peering outside his window, Frederic decides to see what exactly is going on outside. The moment he steps outside though, his journal opens and there's a small gasp of shock before it's settled down. He's looked over himself before stepping towards a mirror to look at his ( Read more... )

"Halloween?" Is that what this strange apparel is for?

I know it as All Hallow's Eve, but I have a friend who enjoys this holiday quite a bit and has told me of the modern changes to it. Apparently on "Halloween", children and adults alike put on costumes and do "trick or treating". It's very strange if you must ask me.

"All Hallow's Eve?" I've not heard of such a holiday...

Traditionally All Hallow's Eve is a celebration where people believe that during this time, the dead can cross over and meet the living. Thus, they decide to wear costumes and masks to ward off spirits of the dead, not for this trick or treating like in modern times. I never truly believe in such things, so I never bothered to celebrate this holiday. I simply knew its name and a little of the history behind it.

I see. It is merely a belief? Is there any truth behind it?

[Truth or not, the idea of departed spirits crossing over is somewhat fascinating.]

It's merely belief or so I've heard, as no true stories of spirits actually roaming around this time have been found. There are folklores and fairytales of spirits coming out of the night, but that is all I've found. My friend Helios knows a bit more in detail about this holiday, perhaps you could speak with him since most of what I know is from speaking with him.

Helios...very well then.

Were you saying that we cannot remove these...costumes?

[Granted, Saleh hasn't actually tried yet.]

From what I've seen and heard from everyone else, it seems the costumes cannot be removed. I knew I would get a costume much like everyone else and was a bit expecting the Malnosso to pull something as not allowing us to remove them, it seems quite their style.

Their "style..."

What do they hope to accomplish with something like this?

When I say style, I mean they seem to enjoy torturing us or forcing us to do things we wish not to do.

As for why this is happening, I believe it is simply them trying to satisfy their own desires for sick and twisted humor of some sort. We are their prisoners after all, it can't be helped.

[His tone sounds distracted now.]

Ah...how easy it is to forget that.

[A pause, looking down at his angel costume. It really doesn't seem that bad.]

Well, things could certainly be worse.

I try to remember that despite seeming like we are free here, we are still the prisoners of the Malnosso.

[He sighs and looks down at his own costume again, still feeling a bit ridiculous.]

I think the Malnosso wish to throw away the dignity of some in the name of twisted humor.

Despite the freedom here...I cannot forget my own world.

[Another pause.]

Somehow...I feel there is more to it than that.

I cannot forget my own world either. [A sigh.] The Malnosso may have some sort of plan or scheme, but I'm not certain what exactly.
