reel_startrek FAQ for Round 2 (1st June - 1st September 2010)
FAQ framework post taken from reel_spn .
When do I have to have finished my story by? The deadline is the 1st of September. Posting may commence as soon as the sign-ups are closed on the 14th of June.
How closely do I have to stick to the plot of the film? The prompts can be interpreted however you see fit, play around with them all you like. Quote the dialogue word for word or change it completely!
How long does my story have to be? There is a minimum word count of 1000 words, but the sky’s the limit after that :D just have it done by the deadline!!
What about rating and pairings? Any rating, genre and pairing is allowed.
Can I choose a movie that's not on the prompt list? Yes, but we ask that you provide a link or summary of the plot and inform a mod of your choice so that it may be added to the correct masterlist and marked as chosen.
Can I choose more than one prompt? Yes, but in the interest of keeping things fair only one prompt can be done at one time. Once the first is finished and there is ample time for you to complete a second you are more than welcome to choose an unclaimed prompt and write/create fan art for that also.
Can I choose to write the fic and create the art for a prompt? No, that would count as choosing two prompts at once, and as stated above, that is not allowed. However if, for example, the story has been completed and no one has claimed to create the art for the prompt, you may then claim to do so.
Someone has picked the prompt for Art, can I still write the fic? Yes. Art and fic are considered separate.
Can I choose a prompt someone else has already taken? No, you can’t, sorry. But the list is long, if you can’t claim your first choice prompt in time, there’ll be plenty more to choose from.
Can I write a crossover? The only crossovers that will be permitted must be within the Star Trek Universe (this does also include RPF)
Can I co-write with a friend? Yes, you can.
If I am writing RPF, which actors can I include in it? Any actors that are a part of the Star Trek franchise are allowed. The Shat, Captain Fine, you name it.
What about posting? We ask that stories be complete when posting. Beta-read is preferable also. You can of course (should you need to) post the incomplete sections to other fanfic or fanart communities but we ask that only when completed should you post here. You may post in the community itself or link elsewhere, but linking to locked posts and/or journals will not be allowed.
We also ask that you follow a template for posting.

I have a film AU already finished. May I post it in the community? No. You claim a prompt, and then you write about it.
HOWEVER, If you claimed a prompt in Round 1 and did not get around to finishing that prompt, you may finish and post if you claim the same prompt in time. If someone else claims it, you will not be allowed to post it I'm afraid. This is the only exception permitted.
