Is it okay to bring in characters from other shows as backdrops? Since it's set in a school and all, I think it'd be fun to include various other people with powers. It wouldn't detract from the main cast, of course.

do you mean outside of the star trek universe? as long as they remain in the backdrop of the story and don't have significant roles (which would then class it as a crossover) thats ok, but if its within the star trek universe they can be as prominent as you like
