FAQ

When do I have to have finished my story by? All stories are due in on the 22nd August by 6pm PST, though you can post them any time before that if you wish. That gives you two whole months from the point that sign-ups close, which we think should be plenty of time. After the 22nd, we will post a complete list of all the stories submitted for the challenge, which will act as archive.

How closely do I have to stick to the plot of the film? You can stick as closely or as loosely to the plot of the film as you like. You can make your story completely cracktastic or entirely serious. The films are meant as prompts, and you can interpret them however you want to.

How long does my story have to be? Stories should be at least a thousand words but there is no limit on how long they can be. The longer the better. ;)

What about rating and pairings? All ratings and genres are allowed. Gen, het and slash stories are equally welcomed and encouraged. We're not too picky about specific pairings, either. Anything pretty much goes!

Can I choose a movie that's not on the prompt list? Yes, you can. You can choose any movie you like, as long as you provide or link to a summary of the plot when you post your story so people who aren't familiar with it can check it out. That way, you're not throwing your story out into the ether and your readers will have the option to watch a movie they haven't seen. If you do choose a movie that isn't on the prompt list, please tell one of the mods so we can add it to the list and then mark it as having been chosen, just to keep everything in order.

Can I choose more than one prompt? Yes, but you can only do one prompt at a time. If you finish your first prompt before the end of the round and you're sure you can do another before the round ends, you can choose a second prompt from the list and dive straight back in.

Can I choose a prompt someone else has already taken? Sorry but no, you can’t. If there is enough interest, we will reopen the community once this round is over and if there is a prompt you wanted but missed, then this will be your opportunity to claim it. We hope this will allow everyone to get what they want and yet prevent multiple stories with similar plotlines in a short space of time.

Can I write a crossover? Again, sorry but no. However, we do allow SPN/CWRPF crossovers, just to mix things up a bit.

Can I co-write with a friend? Yes, you can.

If I am writing RPF, which actors can I include in it? We ask that Jensen and/or Jared are the main focus of any RPF story. The inclusion of other actors from The CW, Christian Kane or Steve Carlson, is allowed and encouraged, while other actors not from The CW may be used for plot purposes, but not as a primary focus.

What about posting? Stories must be complete when posted. We also ask you have it beta read. We have a template for posting (which can be found [ here]) that we ask you use when you post to the community to make things neat and tidy. You can link from your personal journal to the community, or you can post it directly.

I have a film AU already finished. May I post it in the community? Sorry, no. The community is only for stories written for the claimed prompts. This is primarily a challenge community, and we would like it kept just for fics written in response to it.

Any other questions? Feel free to ask them here and a mod will get right back to you. :)

And now, if you haven't grabbed a prompt already, what are you still doing here?? The masterlist of movie prompts is [ here], just waiting for you. :D
