Well, considering that the chain of events really started with his betrayal and defection, I'm not surprised. Actually, I wondered when he was going to show up again. Remember, Walt seemed to be able to manipulate the island. This ought to be good!

Considering how the actor was all grumpypants in the press after being let go, I am a little surprised, heh. But, yeah, character-wise, totally makes sense he'd be part of the bigger picture. I'm actually intrigued what they could do with Walt. :D

Last I've heard was that they tried to get every former actor to come back for the finale for some reason. I'm not sure who exactly will be there, but I'm looking forward to some of them. :)

I was thinking the same thing about Michael being grumpy but so was Ian Somerhotpants and he's pretty much been back every season since being let go. I also didn't know about this spoiler but I clicked the hell out of it because I totally wanted to know.
