Unfortunately, it has enough trivia and enough questing plot to snag a lot of people for whom that is what they seek when they read.
I will be interested to see which parts of the book are played up in the upcoming movie trailers. Maybe Spielberg will fix/remove the unnecessary romantic element and go for a straight action flick.

I hit IMDB for at least a little reassurance: It looks like Aech is being played by someone who is both of the correct gender/race but is also IRL 33 years old: Lena Waithe.
