Okay, in my quest to make my life better by making my environment better (only ask if you care to here me rant), I reorganized my jewelry.  And, very sadly, I have three necklaces in need of repair and two broken silver chains.  (I also had a wooden bracelet that needed to be restrung, but I just did that ( Read more... )

if the chain's broken already, I'm gonna guess it wasn't strong enough in the first place--?

your mileage may vary; my closest experience to this is wearing a cross on a chain 'round my neck, and men's crosses tend to have pretty heavy/sturdy chains. If a heavier chain would no longer look appropriate for your style of jewelry, disregard.

who also wonders about mending a silver chain with a single link of something sturdier than the original silver... but that may be an engineer's solution rather than a jeweler's.
