I have had some pretty unglamorous jobs.  Aside from the usual telephone tech support gig, where people would call and shriek about how I had broken their computer, I worked in commercial fisheries and on a farm (essentially rolling around in the mud for $7/hour). I have a desk job in a huge office with a door and a window, but I miss being a field archaeologist every day.

How about... "Finish your thesis revisions and we can talk about the shiny new computer we'll get you to use."

If you are extra special nice it might even be laptop so you don't have to spend you summer stuck in an office with me.

I luff laptops. I haven't had a desktop computer as my main machine since I was a junior in high school... And as nice as I am sure the office is, having options is a lovely thing!
